After breaking down tonight’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, next on F1’s to-do list will be readying a year-round slate of experiences at Grand Prix Plaza. The 39-acre complex at 4400 Koval Lane, which features the race’s pit building, has stood pretty much unused between the first and second Las Vegas races.
The attractions, designed by a Connecticut-based live attraction producer called Round Room Live, will include a go-kart track, a design-your-own-F1-car station and a hall of driving simulators.
And the best part is that no Las Vegas Strip traffic will be delayed by setting any of this up.
“The opening of Grand Prix Plaza’s year-round, consumer facing programming will enable Formula 1 to engage with visitors … and residents alike in new and exciting ways,” Las Vegas Grand Prix CEO Renee Wilm said in a statement. “Our commitment to the Las Vegas community runs deep, and we could not be happier to bring this collection of unique and immersive experiences to the destination.”
On the go-kart track, called “F1 Drive,” electric karts built to resemble F1 cars will weave through 1,650 feet of the actual pit building garages.
Finally, there’s the F1 Hub, home to the driving simulators. It will also include an F1-themed restaurant and merch store — in case fans are worried about walking around Las Vegas without enough credit card debt.
The new attractions at Grand Prix Plaza are expected to open this spring.
