Always made my husband drive slowly down the Strip past the motel to see if the pink elephant from my childhood was still there! My family stayed there mid 1960’s.

I’m not going to roll out the oft-repeated “Vegas was better when the mob ran it” routine, but it’s amazing that there were so many old-fashioned, non-corporate hotels on both Fremont Street and LV Blvd. way back when. They’re not pretty to look at now, but the few we have left are great testaments to a different era.

Stevens bros are awesome for their contributions to save the Golden Goose sign. Hope the elephant gets saved and goes to the Neon Museum. Any word on what, if anything, from the Tropicana will be going to the Neon Museum. Would be cool if they could some how save that beautiful stained glass ceiling but I don’t think that’s possible.
