In reply to EddieV. I spent a lot more time/money at Downtown Grand on my last trip to Vegas. $5 Blackjack and dealers that were terrific and helpful. I used to go to El Cortez, but what's the lure? They no longer have $5 Blackjack and the place went from quaint retro to seedy old.

I’m intrigued, probably unreasonably so, by the concept of a “roulette bar.” I’m enthralled by spinning wheels and bottles of liquor.

For the past 15 years I visit the El Cortez multiple times a year from New Mexico—the best, most welcoming place in town, with fair pricing and tenured employees. Kenny’s terrific, and is often seen buying drinks at the bar for guests. Good high limits, too.

$20M doesn’t go very far. It’s enough to clean the carpets and install some new vinyl ropes around the guest check in. I love the ElCo , downtown in general so hope this “turns out nicely �?for them �?/p>

While ElCo is an old favorite, nowadays I prefer the Downtown Grand for inexpensive gambling. On a recent trip to Vegas I played all afternoon at Downtown Grand at $5 BJ table that paid 3:2. Can’t get that at ElCo. Also, really miss Naked City pizza.
