I’ve never played this “slot machine” but I’ve played many many claw machines. There is nothing new about this concept except the dollar amounts are higher. Sad to say but skill cranes haven’t been skill based for the most part for quite some time. You can learn more about it by googling “claw machine pay out rate”. Basically, the claw starts out too weak to grab a prize and gradually gets stronger and stronger until the correct number of plays has been met for there to finally be a win. So, it’s kind of like slot machine mechanics anyway. All then did here was go full on with it. I’m sure instead of a set number of plays before a win (and the player just doesn’t know what that number is) it has a random number generator like any slot machine. I don’t really understand the point randomly giving out extra plays or forcing a “win” to give out prizes when a ball isn’t captured. To my mind that just makes it seem less like an actual claw machine.

I just got back from the D and only played this because I happened to have been FaceTiming my kid’s as I walked past it. Since they love playing any claw machine they see, I thought it would be fun for them to watch me play it while on the phone. I bet $5 (once) and won $1,000! Omg my sister (and kids) and I were screaming. I still can’t believe it lol

Very novel concept and will likely attract younger gamblers, if they’re not at home playing in the Net. However, it’s only a matter of time before some politician up for re-election calls it out for being too attractive to children. Fortunately, it’s only at The D right now, but if Azure takes it elsewhere and it ends up in an airport, beware.

There’s also an isssue of the software manipulating the outcome. Granted, the house always wants the edge, but it would be nice if the result was actually based on skill, jot an RNG.

This machine sucks. I put $40 in and played 8 tries at $5 a game. Each time the machine offered me $10 if I was able to grab a ball. It didn’t even grab one. The claw is rigged to grip a ball tighter at a certain time.

So when watching this I noticed something about the claw. The distance between claws changes from a $10 ball and a $500 ball. The claw was more open with the $500 ball making it fall more easily. I suspect that is programmed into the game to lessen the chance of winning bigger prizes.
