Yeah, unfortunately, we aren’t seeing a lot of skepticism from the media, even typically good outlets (none of which are in Las Vegas). I’m unsure why they are ignoring the facts here, preferring to do as you mentioned–basically just paraphrasing what they’re being told by the people most invested in the narrative that’s being spun. I think it’s making Vegas look bad, as our public officials appear just as easily duped as local media. Touting the Stadium Authority’s rubber stamp as “the final hurdle” is patently absurd, yet that’s the way it’s being portrayed. Vegas is being used, and I stand by my story as it’s based upon the truth and reasonable conclusions drawn from what’s happened so far (and in the context of how Fisher has acted in the past).

This confirmed a lot of the suspicions that A’s fans have had about a toothless John Fisher who has repeatedly failed in his attempts to get a stadium built anywhere but Oakland. The fact that he is now going to Sacramento to play at a minor league park with jerseys that don’t even say Sacramento (technically West Sacramento) tells you all you need to know about him. And to think it was a link from The Athletic (who basically just put out a PR piece by the A’s) that sent me here.

They thought following through and prepping the lot would encourage investors and get it over the hump.

There are many reasons to tear down an old building. Trying to maintain old plumbing and electrical for starters. then you have big systems like water plants that cool and heat the building. the owners pour tons of money into keeping those items running and to top it off, with today’s technology, you need miles of wire and optics to keep up and installing them into existing old building is a nightmare and very expensive. Tear it down?, yes. but for Pete’s sake get the horse before the cart. PS. horse, not donkey.

Aren’t they now in a position of now having no casino/property revenue plus an empty lot of rubble to show for it for the foreseeable future? Why rush to implode under such shaky circumstances?

You get through the BS. If this were an east coast team, the more likely markets they would move to are Raleigh, NC or Nashville, TN.

Major league teams don’t play the opposition league annually and it is usually a six game series at most, three qnd three in each team’s park. That’s not filling seats regularly and over 81 games a season, unreliable. But the most important point? This clownshow has 0.01% chance of happening in Vegas at all, let alone a domed stadium and resort hotel on a postage stamp of land controlled by two broke-ass corporations.

That’s gotta be a typo. (and, yes, as a Philadelphian, I’m aware here was their origin)

Yeah, that part of my comment saying “Kansas City Athletics” is a typo, my tablet auto-correct changed “Oakland Athletics” to “Kansas City Athletics”. But the rest of my comment is accurate. Bud Selig interfered in the sale of the Athletics back then by blocking out all other buyers so that John Fisher and Selig’s friend Lewis Wolff were the only ones allowed to buy the team. That was over the objections from other MLB owners.
